The Barn at Gibbet Hill Wedding

The Barn at Gibbet Hill weddings combines rustic and relaxed vibes. This venue is idyllic, with a renovated and restored barn over a 100-year-old and beautiful lush green hills that seem to go on forever. You can find it at the bottom of Gibbet Hill, past the main street of Groton. The views are insurmountable in and of themselves and would make for the perfect New England wedding.

After a wedding rained out in 2002, the idea to have a Gibbet Hall wedding was born. Back then, the barn wasn’t renovated, and they had to shift things around to make it work. However, it was such a hit that the idea to convert this space into a wedding venue was born, and years later, it was named by CBS-4 the best wedding venue in the Boston area.

A fun fact: Multiple scenes from the 2019 movie ‘Little Women’ were shot at the top of Gibbet Hill.

Wedding Ceremony Locations

Lawn Ceremony

As long as the weather allows for it, your wedding ceremony may be held on the front lawn of The Barn. This gives you a view of the rolling hills and cattle that grazes the land. It all comes together to provide you with a truly rustic wedding.

Deck

This spot is the perfect cocktail hour location. You and your guests can enjoy the incredible surroundings and bask in nature and fresh air. The deck is used year-round and has a clear siding that can be rolled up when the weather takes a turn or left down during the cooler months.

Top of the Hill

Have the most exclusive Gibbet Hill wedding that money can buy at the Top of the Hill. It’s a tented outdoor venue located at the summit of Gibbet Hill. You get incredible views of Mt. Wachusett, Mt. Watatic, and Mt. Monadnock. Can you picture the fantastic photos you can get with this backdrop?

Beyond the tent are ivy-covered ruins of General Bancroft’s Castle, a stone lodge built by General William Ayers Bancroft in 1906. These ruins could be incredible for a ceremony or a fun and unique cocktail reception. They also stand out in photographs.

The Barn

The Barn at Gibbet Hill has recently been renovated and has a rustic aesthetic and modern renovation. Many people describe it as rustic, charming, and cozy. There is an outside heated deck with a room over it that can be used for cocktail receptions. The Barn can seat up to 220 people and is next to their hardwood dance floor.

Amanda and Kevin’s rustic wedding at Barn at Gibbet Hill took place on a crisp fall day in October. They started their wedding day at the Groton Inn conveniently located down the street from their venue in Groton MA. Amanda and Kevin’s wedding ceremony took place during the late afternoon in a large field next to the wedding venues barn. After their ceremony we took advantage of the golden hour sun light, rolling hills and fall colors for some relaxed wedding portraits. Soon after Amanda and Kevin enjoyed their wedding guest at in the Barn at Gibbet Hill for a night of celebration.
